PROGRAM SPOTLIGHT – AVIATION

The Pursuit Institute is soaring to new heights with 19 programs for the 2024-2025 academic year, with one highly-anticipated new program focusing on Aviation.

For a bit of background, Pursuit Programs are Career and Technical Education courses offered on-site at local area businesses and community partners.

These programs are taught by industry professionals and offer students the opportunity to participate in real world experiences, gain relevant credentials and skills and expand their professional networks.

The Pursuit Institute has partnered with LIFT Academy and Ivy Tech to navigate this exciting course, with instructors Clayton Brown from LIFT Academy and Chris Barlow from Ivy Tech leading the way.

For its first year “in flight,” a total of 28 students are enrolled from Fishers, Hamilton Heights, Hamilton Southeastern, Noblesville, Sheridan and Westfield High Schools. They’ll have the opportunity to earn 14 Ivy Tech credits (at no cost to them), along with their Ground School Certification.

In August, students took a trip to tour LIFT Academy and their hangar, met with admissions counselors and spent time in flight simulators. In November, they will be visiting the Air Traffic Control Tower at the Indianapolis Airport.
