Medical assistants support physicians with patient care, such as administering medications, interpreting various medical data, understanding and following medical charts and procedures, administering vaccines, obtaining patient vitals and medication history, performing laboratory tests and drawing blood.

They also might help with administrative tasks such as updating patient charts or answering medical phone calls.
